First off, I would like to say congrats to my sister Amanda and Gary on finding out they are having a boy! That makes me very excited!
My dad sent me some pictures of scout camp, the view of Cedar Bluff calms me down a lot. And the view from the point has always been one of my favorites.
So it's been a long week for me. Started out kind of rough. Wednesday or Thurs. I don't remember, we ran 3.5 miles on the road. Remember, this place has nothing but steep uphill slopes in every direction. I'm sure I've mentioned it. Then we put on all of our body armor, and marched 2.5 miles. When we got to this field, they started throwing fake mortar rounds and flash bang grenades right next to us. So we have to fall down scream "Enemy contact, 200 meters at 12:00" then we run 200 meters towards where the mortar landed.(12:00 straight) and repeat that all day with periods of firing from behind barriers and walls from a kneeling position. All in all a stressful day. I pinched some nerves in my knee. Which put me on sick call Thursday morning. The medic didn't find anything wrong that he could tell in the joint so they put me on profile until Sunday to be safe. Which I thought was a good idea, because we have a very important PT test on Monday. You must score at least a 60% in each event or you get restarted or sent home. My scores on my last test was 82% on pushups and 85 on situps and 70 on my run. So I am not wanting to risk my scores.
I did still get to sleep with everyone out in the field. No tents, just sleeping bags. and the stars just how I like it. they woke us up a few times in the night creeping around then throwing fake grenades into the camp site, which are loud as hell just to kep us on our toes.
So after comeing back from in the field for a couple of days, we were expecting mail, but they never picked it up.
I did get a card from J.E.Dunn, and that was a very good surprise. that was awesome. Thank you!!
well thats all for now. will keep you posted.
keep the letters coming. I really do enjoy hearing from you
